Atlanta Hawks interim head coach Nate McMillian has been named Eastern Conference Coach of the Month. McMillan who took over the team after Lloyd Pierce was fired March 1, started hot out the gate leading the Hawks to an 8-0 record in his first 8 games. That was the first time a head coach won his first 8 games with his new team in 17 years.

During the month of March Atlanta went 9-4, winning six of those games by double digits, and peaked at 4th place in the Eastern Conference standings. The Hawks averaged 110 PPG during the month. Atlanta has been struggling on their 8 game road trip, going a modest 2-4 so far. The road trip wraps up Friday in New Orleans.

McMillian has built a comradery amongst the team, getting more players involved in the offense. This is the seventh time he has been awarded Coach of the Month honors.
